Lex Koller Law
The Lex Koller Law is one of the most debated Swiss laws. A draft amendment has yet to be put in consultation in order to subject commercial buildings to this Law.
The system governing the acquisition of real estate by persons abroad often applies to Geneva, which is an international canton par excellence. It is a technical field, in which seemingly clear rules often involve the interpretation and knowledge of case law and administrative practices.
Here are some examples of cases in which we have advised and represented clients:
- Giving a legal opinion on the reorganisation of a group of companies with buildings owned by foreign nationals.
- Drafting a request for authorisation to purchase a new principal residence in Geneva.
- Giving a legal opinion on the exercise of a right of first refusal by a company that has passed into foreign hands since the law was brought in.
